  1. Parts of the Cell

  2. WARM UP • PUT NOTEBOOK ON FRONT TABLE • IF YOU SIT DOWN WITH YOUR NOTEBOOK THEN IT WILL NOT BE GRADED • SIT QUIETLY

  3. Ribosomes • Helps makeproteins • Tiny round bodies • Found in the cytoplasm or attached to endoplasmicreticulum

  4. Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) • Systems of membranes throughout the cytoplasm • Connects the nuclearmembrane to the cellmembrane • Passageway for materials moving through the cell

  5. ER • RoughER: makes membranes and makes proteins such as antibodies ~Has ribosomes attached • SmoothER: Makes proteins ~ Has no ribosomes attached

  6. Golgi Bodies (Apparatus) • Help to packageproteins

  7. Lysosome • Contains enzymes used in digestion of food and waste • “suicidesacs” • If a lysosome were to burst it could destroy the cell

  8. Student Activity • Color in the parts of the Cells • YOU MUST HAVE YOUR OWN COLORED PENCILS TO COMPLETE!! • If you do not have colored pencils, then complete the answers at the bottom of each page • NO WALKING AROUND & TALKING

  9. Label Each Organelle • Compare your Animal or Plant Cell to the handout • Label your handout with the correct location of each organelle • You will be quizzed on this information • STUDY!!!

  10. Parts of the Cell Review • Lets review what you have learned today • Parts of the Cell
