Country Details • Land Area The country is approximately 5,592 miles, (9000km) west to east, with a total land area of 17,075,400 sq km, (6,592,812 sq miles)  Latitude/Longitude 55º 75N, 37º 62E Land Borders 36,388 miles (58,562 km), with 8,845 miles (14,253 km) bordering countries, and 27,532 miles (44,309 km) bordering oceans and seas. 

  4. Landforms • Landforms The broad European Plain, or Volga River Plain extends from the Ural Mountains to its western borders. In the far southwest the Caucasus Mountains slice across the land. The country's highest point, Mt. Elbrus, is located here, at 18,481 ft. (5,633m). The central and southern areas include large fertile areas, marsh, steppes (plains without trees) and massive coniferous forests.

SIBERIA IS…… • Siberia is a combination of frozen tundra, with rolling hills rising to plateaus, and numerous rugged mountain ranges. • The northeast, south-central and southeast areas are covered by a wide variety of mountain ranges. • In Kamchatka Peninsulaare active volcanoes. • Russia has more than 100,000 rivers with a length of 7 miles, or greater. Significant rivers include the Volga, Dnieper and Dvina (in the east) and the Lena, Ob, and Yenisey (central). Lake Baikal is the deepest lake in the world, at 5,310 ft. (1,620m). 

  6. LAND DIVISIONS Land Divisions The Russian Federation is divided into 21 republics, 6 krays (federal territories), 2 federal cities, 49 regions (oblasts), 1 autonomous region and 10 autonomous areas. It has 1,067 major cities, with 13 having a population of one million, or more. 

  7. Moscow Moscow is the capital city and the most populous federal subject of Russia. The city is a major political, economic, cultural and scientific center in Russia and in Eastern Europe.

  8. Saint Petersburg Saint Petersburg  is the second largest city in Russia, politically incorporated as a federal subject (a federal city).

  10. Vatrushka For 6 medium Vtrushkas or 8-10 smaller ones. Dough: 4 cups (500g) unbleached all-purpose flour ½ tablespoon active dry yeast 2 tablespoon sugar 270ml warm milk 100grams softened butter 1/2 tablespoon salt 1 egg yolk for egg wash to finish vatrushkas Cheese filling: 200 grams cream cheese 2 tablespoon sour cream or yogurt ½ tablespoon vanilla extract 2 tablespoonssugar 1 egg

  11. Directions: • To make a dough: In a small bowl, stir together the yeast, sugar, and warm milk; put it aside for about 10 minutes until the mixture starts to foam. In a large bowl, combine the flour with salt.Add melted butter and yeast mixture. Knead until dough is well mixed. Cover with an overturned bowl or loosely with plastic wrap and let rest for 1 hour. • Preheat oven to 175° C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. • To make a cheese filling: Mix all ingredients for cheese filling together in an electric mixer until smooth, about 3-5 minutes. • Return the dough to a floured work surface. Cut the dough into 6-8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a flattened ball. Place them on a prepared baking sheet next to each other, leaving enough space for it to rise. Cover with a towel and let the vatrushkas rise for about 30 minutes. Press each bun in a the centre with a glass cup to form a hollow. • Fill the centre of vatrushkas with the cheese filling, leaving the borders empty. Brush the egg yolk on the . edges of the dough. • Bake in the preheated oven until the vatrushkas are golden brown, about 25-30 minutes. Serve with tea, coffee or warm milk with honey

  12. Požarskij Chicken Nuggets Ingredients for 4 people 90 grams hard bread 100 ml cream 900 grams chicken breasts 150 grams softened butter 1 egg yolk 1 tablespoon vodka 100 grams fine bread crumbs salt

  13. Preparation • Cut the hard bread in six pieces and place them in the cream. Let soak for 15 minutes and then wring out eccess cream. • Mince the chicken breasts twice, the second time together with the bread soaked in cream. • Add 60 grams of softened butter, the egg yolk, the vodka and salt. • Mix well and with wet hands shape the mixture into 12 oval-shaped nuggets. Dip the nuggets into the fine bread crumbs, press gently so as to give them a 3 cm height. • Fry with leftover butter in frying pan. • Serve hot. • Preparation time: 35 minutes • Cooking time: 10 minutes

EURO 2008 MARKS THE FIRST TIME THEY HAVE PASSED THE GROUP STAGES OF A MAJOR TOURNAMENT, THESE ADVANCED ARE NOT COUNTING THE SOVIET UNION NATIONAL  TEAM.

  17. FABIO CAPELLO IN AN ITALIAN FOOTBALL MANAGER AND FORMER PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALLER WHO IS THE MANAGER OF THE rUSSIAN NATIONAL TEAM. CAPELLO WAS BORN IN SAN CANZIAN D’ISONZO. HIS UNCLE, MARIO TORTUL WAS ALSO A FOOTBALL PLAYER AND PLAYED FOR ITALIAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM.

  18. HE IS A COLLECTOR OF FINE ART AND HAS A PERSONAL COLLECTING THOUGHT TO BE WORTH OVER £10 MILLION. ON 26TH JULY 2012 CAPELLO BECAME MANAGER OF THE RUSSIAN TEAM FOLLOWING THE RESIGNATION OF DIC ADVOCAAT. HE LED RUSSIA INTO THE 2014 FIFAWORLD CUP FINALS, FINISHING FIRST GROUP F.

  19. IN JANUARY 2014, CAPELLO COMMITTED HIS FUTURE TO THE RUSSIAN NATIONAL TEAM UNTIL THE END OF THE 2018 FIFA WORLD CUP IN RUSSIA.
