This reflection encourages believers to find value in their faith, particularly during trials. Drawing from 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 and 1 Peter 1:6-9, it explores how suffering can strengthen our faith and reveal God's glory. As we face various challenges, we must trust that God is fulfilling His purposes in us. This piece also challenges us to consider whether our lives reflect the glory of our Savior, Jesus Christ, urging us to ensure that our faith is genuine and leading to abundant joy.

What would you pray? 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
That our God may count you worthy of his calling(1:11) • Our God • Calling by name • Not wasting that call
... for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy. (1 Peter 1:6-9)
That by his power he may fulfil every good purpose of yours (v11) • Creation goodness • Fruit of the Spirit goodness • Purposeful goodness
That he may fulfil...every action prompted by your faith (v11)
So that the Name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you (v12) Name signifies the whole person and work of Christ. Does my Saviour look good in me?
I can bend the knees without bowing to his laws • I can raise the hands to the sky without elevating the mind to heaven • I can demand silence in worship on Sundays and lead a noisy life during the week • I can be on my feet for Jesus at a celebration and fail to stand for him at work or college • I can sing ‘Come down O love divine’ and refuse to answer when he knocks.
And you (glorified) in him (v12) • Disproportionate truth • As my faith honours God, God honours me • ‘I have given them the glory that you have given to me’ (John 17:22
