  2. Objectives • 1.2 • Differentiate between communicable and chronic diseases. • 1.3 • Recall symptoms associated with common communicable and chronic diseases. • 1.4 • Select methods of prevention based on the modes of transmission of communicable diseases.

  3. Communicable Disease • A disease that is contagious and spread from one living organism to another or through the environment, often through “contaminated” (unclean or polluted) water.

  4. Chronic Disease • An illness which is ongoing. The person will continue to get worse unless there is medical care.
