Sensor Node Attached to Vehicle Sensor Node Attached to Window Sensor Node Attached to Metal Door ™ INTRODUCTION: • Developed from patented derivatives from advanced Naval SONAR technologies, • the STARS™ is a new device designed to help increase situational awareness • when responding to a hostage, barricade, and other potentially dangerous • missions. • The STARS™ System provides team staff with the ability to covertly listen for voices and other sounds taking place from within an environment by attaching up to (4) wireless Sensor Nodes to the outside surfaces of the environment's entry points (metal/wooden doors, windows, glass, etc..). • The covert audio intelligence gained helps team staff determine if a subject or individuals are occupying the environment as well as their approximate location. • In the event that negotiations are necessary, a Crisis Negotiator can use the Sensor Nodes to project their voice onto the surfaces to which they are attached to communicate with the barricaded individual or hostage-taker.

Sound is Produced from Within the "Target Structure" Sensor Node is Attached to "Target Structure Surface" When Exposed to this Sound the "Target Structure" Vibrates The Sensor Node Converts these "Structural Vibrations" into a Signal that is Passed to the Command Node ™ These Audio Signals Can Then Be Monitored on the Headset Connected to the Command Node PC, or by Other Team Staff by Connecting External Devices to the analog output ports located on the Command Node or Through a Local Area Network. FEATURES: - Half-Duplex: • Each channel between the Command Node & Sensor • Node is either listening or projecting, but NOT both, • at the same time. • This is like a traditional walkie-talkie - Wireless: • The Sensor Node(s) wirelessly connect to the Command Node over 900Mhz • radio links; there are NO cables. • The radio links are protected through 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard • (AES) to prevent unauthorized signal access. • The effective wireless audio signal transmission distance depends on the type • of antenna that is connected to the System’s Command Node as well as the • operating environment and other factors. - Whip Antenna (provided standard) gives an approximate 400 ft. range - Parabolic Grid Antenna (optional) gives an approximate 1,000 ft. range

FEATURES: - The covert audio data intelligence (sensed vibrations) and communications (projected vibrations) facilitated through the STARS™ System may be recorded for documentation/reference purposes. - STARS™ System’s Command Node is configured at the factory to accommodate the client’s preferred recording option: - Never Record - Delayed Start Record - Selective Record - Continuous Record. - STARS™ System audio file recordings are saved directly to the server contained within System’s Command Node and may be accessed/download through the network PC running the System’s software application.

SYSTEM COMPONENTS: - Command Node: • Computer with specialized software with • Web Server and Java pre-installed • - All features are accessed via a • Web Browser when the Command • Node is connected to a Personal • Computer (PC). • Can run either on a stand alone or local • (wired) network • Powered off of 12v DC: • - Wall Outlet Power Port • - Vehicle Power Port

Internal Magnets Sensor Node ™ Sensor Node Battery Compartment SYSTEM COMPONENTS: - Sensor Nodes: • Delivered with (4) Battery Powered Sensor Nodes: • - Sensor Node accepts (12) A123 lithium-ion • non-rechargeable batteries • - When fresh/new batteries are used a • Sensor Node can be powered/operated • for a minimum of (8) hours. • Sensor Nodes have internal magnets to allow • them to be magnetically attached to any ferrous • material such as steel. • For non-ferrous surfaces such as windows or wooden doors, a Disposable Steel • Plate with Adhesive is used to attach a Sensor Node. • - Pressure is used to attach the Sensor Node to the non-ferrous surface. • - The disposable plate are designed to be permanently left on a surface • as the adhesive is VERY "aggressive" and extremely difficult to remove.

VOG CONTROL PANEL SENSOR NODE OSCILLATIONS: ™ • • The "Sensor Node Oscillations" is a running log that also provides a visual cue as • to the vibration/sound activity that is being picked up by deployed Sensor • Nodes. • • Oscillations with high peaks represent sounds that are louder. • In most cases, louder sounds provide an indication that the "sound source" is • close to where the Sensor Node has been deployed. • Conversely, oscillations with low peaks represent that sounds are quieter and • are most likely further away from where the Sensor Node has been deployed.

VOG CONTROL PANEL OVERVIEW "LISTEN CONTROLS": ™ • The "Listen Controls" are used by the VOG Operator to control which audio source and the volume output level for each channel (left channel = left ear and right channel = right ear). - The VOG Operator can select to listen to the audio data provided by Sensor Node: Side 1, Side 2, Side 3, or Side 4 and increase/decrease the listening volume level for left channel or left ear. - The VOG Operator can select to listen to the audio provided by Sensor Node: Side 1, Side 2, Side 3, or Side 4 and increase/decrease the listening volume level for the right channel or right ear.

  15. VOG CONTROL PANEL OVERVIEW "PROJECTION CONTROL": ™ • The "Projection Control" is used by the VOG Operator to control which Sensor Nodes (Side 1, Side 2, Side 3, AND/OR Side 4) to project audio (or talk) through as well as increase/decrease volume level output of the projected audio.

VOICE OUTGOING CONTROL PANEL OVERVIEW "PUSH TO TALK": ™ • In order to project audio through the selected Sensor Node(s), the VOG Operator MUST press the "Push-to-Talk" control bar. • When the "Push-to-Talk" control bar is pressed, the VOG Operator's headset microphone becomes active, allow the VOG Operator to project their voice the selected Sensor Node(s) • The VOG Operator's headset microphone will remain active until the "Push-to- Talk" control bar is released. Reminder: The STARS™ System is Half-Duplex. Therefore, when a Sensor Node is projecting sound/voice it is NO LONGER sensing sound/vibration. A Sensor Node will begin to sense sound/vibrations as soon as the "Push-to-Talk" control bar is released.
