St Vincent de Paul • St. Vincent was born into a poor family in Gascony, France in around 1580. • In 1596, he was taught in the University of Toulouse. • He fell into the hands of African pirates and was taken to North-Africa as a slave. • After being held captive for 2 years he escaped to Rome, Italy and then went back to France.

  5. St Vincent de Paul • St. Vincent De Paul is the Patron Saint of charity. • His feast day is on the 27th September. • He died at the age of 80 on the 27th September 1660. • He was canonized in 1737

  9. St Anthony • He was born on the 13th of June in Portugal • He was born into a wealthy family in Portugal • He wanted to be a monk and teach the catholic faith in a simple way • He was canonized one year after his death

  10. St Anthony • St Anthony’s feast day is June 13th • In most pictures St Anthony is holding Baby Jesus because he had a vision of Baby Jesus • He is the patron saint of finding lost people, things & sailors

  14. St Veronica • St Veronica lived and died in the 1st Century. • She was a friend and follower of Jesus. • She disobeyed the guards and wiped Jesus’ face with a cloth when he was carrying the cross. • The cloth is preserved in the Vatican City, where the Pope lives.

  15. Important Information • Jesus’ face appeared on the towel after St Veronica wiped his face. • She is mentioned in the Stations of the Cross. • Her saints day is the 12th July. • St Veronica isn’t the patron saint of anything, however, she is remembered for her act of great kindness.

  16. Prayer to St Veronica St. Veronica, you gave Christ a towel which He used to wipe the Precious Blood from His Holy Face. In return for this great act of kindness He left you His image on the towel. Pray for us to Our Lord that His Holy Face may be printed on our hearts so that we will always be mindful of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

  19. St Patrick • St. Patrick of Ireland is one of the most popular saints. • He was born in Scotland in 385 • He got taken as a slave to Ireland when he was 14 or 15 and preached to all the people there • Later he returned to Scotland and became a priest.

  20. St Patrick • Feast day is March 17 • St Patrick is the Patron Saint of Ireland • People from all over the world celebrate St. Patrick’s Day • New York have a parade every year with as many as 150,000 people taking part
