An overview of UCC • The University Computing Centre is an Information Resource Management (IRM) Centre for UDSM • It Provides Various ICT Services to the University and to the General Public • The Centre has 5 branches in Arusha, Dodoma, Mbeya, Mwanza and Dar es Salaam City Centre System Administrators Workshop, Dar es Salaam

Network Infrastructure • VSAT Link – 9Mbps • Campus-wide Optical Fibre Backbone extended to UCLAS • Campus LANs – about 3000 connected Computers (excluding HotSpot Users) • LANs at DUCE, MUCE, IJMC • Point-to-Point Wireless links to University Colleges (i.e. MUCHS, DUCE) • Wireless LAN (HotSpots) within the Campus • E.g. Future Plans • Deploying VoIP at the University Campus and its colleges • Deploying a highly Scalable e-mail System for the University (for 30,000 users 1GB each) • Upgrading Bandwidth to at least 20Mbps • Increasing the number of Public Access Rooms in Campuses • Fully Implementation of the updated ICT Policy System Administrators Workshop, Dar es Salaam

Conclusion • The use of ICT in teaching and learning has positively impacted the pedagogy and enhanced course delivery at UDSM • Also it has positively impacted the research at UDSM • The role of IRM & System Administrators is vital in developing and sustaining ICT at the University System Administrators Workshop, Dar es Salaam
