Durga Puja also known as Durgotsava or Sharodotsav, is an annual Hindu festival originating in the Indian subcontinent which reveres and pays homage to the Hindu goddess Durga and is also celebrated because of Durga's victory over Mahishasura. It is celebrated all over the world by the Hindu community, but it is particularly popular and traditionally celebrated in the Indian states of West Bengal, Bihar, Assam, Tripura, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh (eastern parts) and some other countries like Nepal , Bangladesh , Sri Lanka etc .

The festival begins with the preparation and decoration of pandals. Devotees start the celebrations with early rituals and the installation of the Goddess’s idol. Maha Sashti Maha Navami 9/10 12/10 The official beginning of Durga Puja. The Goddess's idol is unveiled, and the first rituals are performed to welcome her presence. The festivities continue with vibrant cultural performances and further worship, celebrating the Goddess's triumph. Maha Saptami Vijaya Dashami 10/10 13/10 The main celebrations commence with special prayers and rituals dedicated to Goddess Durga. The festival concludes with the immersion of the Goddess’s idol, symbolizing the victory of good over evil.
