  2. Torque • Motion in which an entire object moves is called translation. • Motion in which an object spins is called rotation. • The point or line about which an object turns is its center of rotation. • An object can rotate and translate.

  4. Torque Measurement • The test machine measures torque and angle of the shaft. • There are three sensors on the machine. Load cell measures force in tension and compression. Two encoders measure angle of two shafts. • The torque is product of load value measured by load cell and radius and cos Ǿ. • The angle Ǿ is difference of two angles measured by two encoders. • The force is 10000 kg (100KN), Angle is from 0 to 90 ° • The load increases from 0 to 100KN and back to 0 and angle from 0 to 90°. • The cycle time is 12 sec.

Torque Measurement Sequence • Connect Load cell and two encoder to data acquisition card • Read signal from sensors • Display data in table form and graph form (torque v/s angle ) on line. • Storing data in database for future offline data retrieval and graphs. • Offline graph to have facility for displaying data of multiple samples • Store and retrieve, modify sample details. • 2-3 reports • All reports will have options for print-preview, print and export to other formats like • HTML and PDF. • Database backup and restore facility • Login screen for access control to the system.
