  1. September 7, 2012 Dear Parents, This school year, we will once again be developing our speech-language homework to fit with the current themes/curriculum in the classroom. As such, we will be sending home weekly homework sheets with ideas on how to facilitate speech-language skills within that theme in home based tasks. We believe that by using everyday routines and objects, your child can more effectively carry over and expand his/her language skills. Each week, we will send home a new ‘Homework’ sheet. On each sheet will be several ideas or activities you can try with your son/daughter. In an effort to save paper (and money), the worksheets referenced will be available on the pre-school website under “Speech and Language Support” (http://teacherweb.com/IL/GaryDWrightElementary/Preschool/apt1.aspx). Please let us know if you would like a hard copy. Refer to the sheet throughout the week and return on the following week. Place your initials next to the number(s) of activities you complete with your child. He/she will receive homework credit (stickers on their homework chart) for each activity completed. As always, after your child has received credit, we will return the homework sheet so you can keep it at home for future reference. Please let us know if you have any questions/concerns regarding the change. We continue to strive for new ways to make learning fun while also being functional Sincerely, Cindy Poegel, MA, CCC-SLP Jennifer Heinisch, MA, CCC-SLP Speech-Language Pathologist Speech-Language Pathologist Gary D.
