  3. Ipad S-Curve • Based on the S-Curve model Apple’s iPad sales increased each year. The about 4.1 million iPads were sold in 2010 the first year it came out. In 2011, it sold about 7.1 iPads. iPads are becoming very popular and in 2012 Apple sold 15.1 million iPads doubling its sales from 2011. Based on the trend the iPads sales will continue grow each year.

  4. iPad’s Timeline • January 27,2010: iPad Announced • March 12,2010: Apple began taking Pre-orders. • April 30,2010- Wifi+3G version released • April 3,2010: iPad released • May 28,2010: iPad released in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom.

  5. Timeline Cont. • July 23,2010:Apple released the iPad in Hong Kong, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand and Singapore.   • September 17,2010: iPad released in China • May 3,2010: Apple sold a million iPads • March 2,2011: Steve Jobs unveiled the iPad 2.

  6. Timeline • March 7,2012: iPad 2 Retina Display unveiled. • October 23,2012: Apple announced the 4th Generation iPad. • November 2,2012: 4TH Generation iPad and iPad mini released. Previous iPad versions were discontinued.

  7. iPad Innovators • Obsess with innovators • Substantial financial resources • Being able to cope with uncertainty about an innovation. Link

  8. Cont. • Innovators of the iPad are the people who are a fan of Apple products. They are the ones who may have own the iPod,iPhone, and other Apple products

  9. iPad Early Adopters • Role Model of an innovation • Decrease the uncertainty about an innovation. • Based on the S-curve model the early adopters purchase the iPad towards the end of 2010.

  10. iPad Early Majority • Adopt just before the average person. • Deliberate on the innovation before adopting. • May have purchased the iPad in 2011.

  11. iPad Late Majority • Adopts innovations after the average person. • Adopt because of peer pressure • This may be the people who purchase iPads in 2012, two years after the release.

  12. iPad Laggards • Last to adopt • Resist change • Laggards are the people who either purchase an iPad in 2013 or haven’t consider purchasing an iPad.
