Possessive Nouns. What is a possessive noun ?. Possessive nouns show different types of ownership. They may refer to something we possess, or they may refer to something that is part of us (ex. our bodies, our emotions). Forming the possessive of singular nouns.

  2. What is apossessive noun? Possessive nouns show different types of ownership. They may refer to something we possess, or they may refer to something that is part of us (ex. our bodies, our emotions)

  3. Forming the possessive of singular nouns

  4. To make singular nouns possessive, simply add ‘s

  5. Examples: = the food of the fish the fish food ‘s = the claw of the lobster the lobster claw ‘s

  14. If theplural nounendsin “s” simply add an apostrophe
