A New Federation • The European Union stands at a crossroads… • Severe crisis of European integration • Failure of neoliberal policy agenda • Dominance of austerity polices • Growths in precarious working conditions The European Industrial Workers Federation from the metal, chemical and textile sectors unite in their struggle to safeguard Social Europe and for sustainable growths and jobs!

A New Federation Main demands • Give priority to worker’s social rights over economic freedom • Re-regulate the global financial markets • Qualify and train workers instead of promoting austerity • Focus on sustainable and socially responsible industrial policies • Prioritise the needs of the real economy over those of financial speculators

A New Federation industriAll European Trade Union • Over 230 affiliates, more than 7 million members • Industrial production drives growths in Europe • - 75% of EU exports are industrial goods • - 80% of European R&D expenditure Industry is and will be the core of Europe’s economic strength and sustainability strategy industriAll will ensure that the voices of Europe’s industrial workers are being heard

IP Cooperation with CCMI • Industrial Policy today is the process of cooperation between the public and private sector in fields of strategic importance that require special attention, e.g: • Environment and climate change • Social Policy and demographics • Energy and resource efficiency, RID • Transport and mobility • CHALLANGE: Reconcile IP with the demands of the EU Single Market and globalisation

Our view on IP • GOAL: Create favourable framework conditions for Europe’s industry to create and maintain high quality, sustainable jobs • Life-cycle thinking • Socially accepted products / production processes • Eco-efficient technologies • Foster markets for sustainable goods & services • Promote sustainable industrialisation • Increase energy efficiency

  21. Employment Dimension • Sustainable investment is employment-intensive: • Public transportation • Installation of energy efficiency systems • Retrofitting buildings • Installation of renewable energy generating systems • Waste management and recycling
