Deforestation Introduction Deforestation refers to the decrease in forest areas across the world that are lost for other uses such as agricultural croplands, urbanization, or mining activities Effects Deforestation Affects and Contributes to Climate Change Deforestation for Food May Lead to Food Insecurity in the Future The Effects of Deforestation on Local People and Their Livelihoods “Forests are the world’s air-conditioning system – the lungs of the planet –and we are on the verge of switching it off.”

More specifically, 10% of deforestation can be attributed to new infrastructures that serve the current human lifestyle in four main ways: transportation, transformation and energy generation.
