  6. 2006 Installation • Many designs were not completed on time for manufacturing and installation • Many components designed for 2006 installation are same as 2007/2008 installation • Implemented new BOM tracking schedule for 2007 and 2008 installations • There were some components and supports that did not fit during 2006 installation these were due to design error. • All drawings are checked for fit before installation • 2006 commissioning encountered many problems with diagnostic components • All components will be verified and signed off by mechanical engineer, control engineer, alignment and physicist before installation

  7. Design and Fabrication Tracking Schedule

  8. 2007 Installation Status • Linac system for 2007 downtime installations • Starts in September 4, 2007 thru December 3, 2007. • 12 weeks minus 2 weeks for PPS checkout and few days of power outages in sectors 24-30 • Divided in three areas • L2- minimal modification to the Linac • BC2 – last 3 girders of sector 24 • Modifying girders 24-7, 8 & 9 • L3- sectors 25 to 30 • Modifying girders 25-1,2,3 & 9; 27-6 & 9; 28-5 & 7; 29-4

  11. BC2/L3 Status • BC2 Status • Design is complete except radiation shielding and seismic proofing of center movable magnet • All beam line components/supports are in MFD shop and outsourced • Delivery of first BX magnet on 7/9/07 • Completed SOW and purchase requisition for Davis Bacon installations • L3 Status • Design is complete • All beam line components/supports are in MFD • Completed SOW and purchase requisition for Davis Bacon installations • Cable installations for BC2 and L3 • Design complete • Out for vendor quote

  12. 2008 Installations • LTU (Linac to Undulator) Status • Early co-occupancy in December 2007 for installation • Divide in two areas BTH (Beam Transport Hall) west and BTH • Support stand purchase order placed, deliveries in September • Submitted SOWs to review committee for the support stand installations • e-Dump Status • 80% design complete awaiting RP for spot shielding requirements • 50% components in MFD or ready for installation (RFI) • BYD magnet design complete and is out for bid this week, expect delivery in April 2008

  16. CR Impact • Past CR impact • No affect on BC2 and L3- design moved forward • LTU and E-Dump installations were more uncertain until March 2007. LTU design performance were affected by CR • Based on performance and schedule slip, cost impact: labor and material impact $263K • Future CR impact • No delays on LTU and E-Dump installations • Additional resources are needed to recover lost time (performance) $2.1M in TEC

  17. 6-Months Look-ahead • Complete fabrication of all BC2 and L3 components in October for September 2007 downtime installation • Complete design LTU and e-Dump • Manufacture LTU and e-Dump components • Install LTU component stands during co-occupancy
