Spinal pain is a frustrating thing

Back pain is a pretty serious condition and can never be judged about the seriousness of the pain. For instance, a relatively minor muscle strain can lead to severe pain in the spinal cord, while at the same time a serious condition like cauda equina syndrome might be not so painful. Spinal pain varies from people to people. People suffering from a certain spinal condition might suffer from chronic pain while others might not feel any pain.

  1. Spinal pain is a frustrating thing Back pain is a pretty serious condition and can never be judged about the seriousness of the pain. For instance, a relatively minor muscle strain can lead to severe pain in the spinal cord, while at the same time a serious condition like caudaequina syndrome might be not so painful. Spinal pain varies from people to people. People suffering from a certain spinal condition might suffer from chronic pain while others might not feel any pain.

  2. It is becoming a common notion among spine specialists that spinal pain is a unique personal experience. Similarly, there is no certainty that everyone will respond to the same treatment even though the symptoms are the same. There is a major difference between chronic pain and acute pain. Chronic pain lasts more than 6 months and acute pain lasts from 3 to 6 months and both have different characteristics.

  3. If someone is suffering from acute pain, then the pain would be directly related to the extent of the damage. This type of pain is generally due to some injuries or due a damaged tissue. Once the injury or the damaged tissue is healed, then the pain also goes away. In case of chronic pain, this happens due to something beyond than an injury or a damaged tissue. Everyone experiences the pain in a different way. Even if two people suffering from the same type of pain, both of them might feel the pain in a different way. This also leads to seating discomfort.

  4. Ironically the level of the pain is essential in deciding on the treatment type. The chronic pain is treated depending on the cause of the pain. Chronic pain can be caused by any painful spine disorder, such as spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis and degenerative disc disease. A person normally suffers from these diseases due to an anatomical problem, which are also curable. If after going through treatments for a few weeks or months the pain still exists, then surgery is the only option available option left.

  5. There is another kind of pain known as neuropathic pain. In this type of pain the signs of injury are not visible. The nerves continue to send pain signals to your brain even though there are no damaged tissues.
