BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY OF THE OXIDIZED POLYSACCHARIDES Bioreactive polysaccharides have been most commonly used as drugs or drug delivery systems. The present paper describes the biological activity of some artificial and natural polyanionic polysaccharides. Results regarding oxidized cellulose and carboxymethylcellulose modified with benzocaine or N u2013 hydroxy u2013 3,4 u2013 dihydroxybenzamide (Didox) complete the picture of antiviral and antitumoral effects of polysaccharides.
