  1. Hunters and Shooters Are At Serious Risk of Hearing Problems Hunters and shooters, such as deer hunters and their mates, the wing-shooter, and various professionals and individuals that partake of shooting activities – either regularly or even all the time, or maybe just every now and then – know that loud sounds such as those they are exposed to constantly, are never pleasant on the ear. So many try to ignore it the moment they leave the bush where they were hunting, or the shooting range or competition area until the next time. Of course there are others too that are confronted with issues of having to listen to loud, harsh sounds often, not only hunters. What about K-9 officers during training, military personnel, SWAT members, even those that are around jet engines – and a large group of other professionals that work in circumstances where noise is a constant issue? They often report of the effects of noise on their ears and the ability to well, either because they listen to such noise every day or just now and then. It is fact that the human ear was not designed to handle such loud noises, and it is a real danger for many that they may suffer after having been exposed to such noise. A little bit of background information illustrates the point. Scientists and audiologists and other professionals that work in fields related to hearing, conduct studies into the effects of noise on hearing all the time. Most people may have heard or read of NIHL, so-called noise-induced hearing loss that specifically refers this issue. When those tiny sensory hair cells that are located in our inner ears suffer damage – because of excessive exposure to loud noise at high intensity – we may be a candidate for NIHL, which is most often not reversible. Sound is measured in what is known as decibels or dB. These start at zero level and then go up to very high levels, levels which cause hearing problems. For example, when you whisper, 30 dB are recorded, normal conversation (not shouting) is measured at 60, an ambulance’s siren is heard at 120 – and a jet engine at, say, 140 or 150. Already at 120 dB it becomes quite unpleasant if you stand in near proximity to such sounds – even painful to the exposed ear. Hunters and shooters, it is estimated, are exposed to anything at above 140 dB, which shows how dangerous it becomes if a shot is fired right at your ears – and more so when this happens often. Permanent hearing loss becomes a real possibility. Therefore millions of hunters and shooters all over the world – and many others that work in loud environments – now wear protective custom ear plugs for shooting.

  2. Some use ear muffs which are placed over the ear while they hunt or practice their shooting, then they take these off afterwards. Some of them offer good protection, but many shooters feel they are cumbersome at times, and therefore they are looking at something smaller. Fortunately some really great products have been introduced to the market – and they gain in popularity fast – to offer the same, and mostly better, protection for the shooter. These are digitally advanced products, devices that fit perfectly into your ear to block out all harmful sound, while at the same time letting pleasant sound through! They are devised exactly for this purpose: to protect your hearing while not limiting your ability to hear normal, pleasant sound. This is great for the hunter that needs to be able to hear his prey, for many other shooters that need a tactical advantage over others and for the person that spends his days at shooting class, for example. They are made according to the contours of the person’s ears, to offer an exact fit. These are made by specialist service providers that take molds of your ears and then go ahead and design your ear protection for shooting – also as a digitally enhanced product to offer you great features and protection from hearing loss when you are exposed to the loud sounds of gun fire and other noises. About Us: Electronic Shooters Protection (ESP) has been in business for more than 20 years and provides the best in terms of electronic protection for ears. Products are custom made to fit the individual’s ears so as to allow maximum protection while still hearing sound.
