  15. Each compound has a chemical formula

  16. The chemical formula shows how many atoms of each element is contained within the compound.

  17. A molecule of water (H2O) contains two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom.

  18. A molecule of carbon dioxide (CO²) contains two oxygen atoms and one carbon atom.

  19. A molecule of carbon monoxide (CO) contains one oxygen atom and one carbon atom.

  20. A molecule of oxygen (O²) contains two oxygen atoms

  21. A molecule of methane gas (CH4) contains one carbon atom and four hydrogen atoms.

  22. Everyday products and materials contain lots of different chemical compounds or depend on chemical compounds for their manufacture.

  23. Think, pair, share • What chemical compounds do you know of that are in or used in the manufacture of everyday objects or products? • think about materials!
