  1. INTRODUCTION OF BTI PRODUCTS

  2. STRATEGY ON SELLING BTIThis presentation is designed to : • Aid you in selling BTI products • Understanding the advantages of BTI products • Show many « common » safety solutions can be re-visited to provide a lower cost or better solution than anyone else • Show that the BTI is a unique product that nobody else has

  3. THE COMPANY • 1981 : distribution of electrical material • 1983 : distribution of safety material • 1985 : creation of the first safety switch for the machine safety • 1992 : creation and manufacturing of safety modules • 1993 : creation of the ACOTOM® process and the BTI brand

  4. WHY THE ACOTOM PROCESS? In 1993, there were only 2 kind of safety switches : • the mechanical switches • The magnetic switches (with reed contacts)

  5. THE MECHANICAL SWITCHES • Category 1 according to EN954-1 only • Cheap but installation costs have to be added • Weak life expectancy • Easy to be cheated • Non adapted to food industry • Weak tolerance • Big dimensions

  6. THE MAGNETIC SWITCHES • Non stand-alone switch : a safety module is needed! • Equiped with reed contacts • Easy to be cheated with magnets • High sticking risk • The LED does not indicate the state of the whole switch • High hysteresis

  7. THE ACOTOM® PROCESS • To avoid the disadvantages of the mechanical and magnetic switches, we have created the ACOTOM® process. • ACOTOM® process : decoding system based on the use of electronic components.

  8. THE BTI SWITCHES

  9. HOW DOES IT WORK? • Once powered (24V AC/DC), the switch generates a magnetic field that actively searches for the actuating coded magnet to show up in the range of the sensing field. • Once the properly coded magnet is in range and recognized (decoded) the output of the switch changes state and signals a machine enable. • If, for any reason, these conditions are not met, the switch’s output will not change and therefore is disabled.

  10. ADVANTAGES OF BTI SWITCHES • Reliable thanks to the Acotom process • Easy to be fixed and wired • Small and constant hysteresis • Long life expectancy • Insensitive to magnetic fields and vibrations • Adapted to all kind of industries (especially food industry) • Tolerant in all axis

  11. WHY USE BTI?The ability to remove the safety module from a system is valuable in many ways : • Saving space panel • Less wiring – less wiring errors • Less installation time • Ideal in high humidity environments (IP67 or IP68) where the safety modules fail due to condensation!

  12. DETERMINING YOUR SAFETY CATEGORY

  13. THE RANGE OF BTI PRODUCTS • THE STAND-ALONE SWITCHES : NO SAFETY MODULE NEEDED! • THE NON STAND-ALONE SWITCHES : WITH AWAX SAFETY MODULE • THE SAFETY MODULES

  14. THE STAND-ALONE SWITCHES • Equiped with ACOTOM® and ACOTOM3® process • Can reach safety category from 1 to 4 WITHOUT safety module • Integrated self-control (AMX and VIGIL) • Multi-code switches (2SSR serie and VIGIL) • Economical solution for few accesses

  15. VIGIL AMX5 CK AMX serie 2SSR serie Furtif SSR serie 7SSR OPTO2S BOSTER Category 4 alone! Switch with a locking device Integrated self-control / Cat. 3 Multi-codes switches / Cat. 1 Switches of category 1 Cylindrical switch / Cat. 1 Miniature switch Integrated magnetic latch THE PRODUCTS

  16. THE NON-STAND ALONE SWITCHES • Equiped with the ACOTOM2® process • Have to be controlled by an AWAX module to reach a safety category • The best solution if you have several accesses to be protected +

  17. ANATOM M18 OPTOPUS DEC ANATOM Serie TRITHON EPINUS Cylindrical switch Miniature switch Standard products High temperature switch Integrated magnetic latch THE RANGE NB : these products have to be wired with an AWAX module. One switch + module = category 4 according to EN954-1 Switches in series + module = category 3 according to EN954-1

  18. REMINDER • Our switches are delivered with 3m, 6m or 12m cable in standard • Available with plug-in connector (depending on the models) • Available in 316L stainless steel version (depending on the models) with engraved laser marking!

  19. THE SAFETY MODULES • Attractive design • Plug-in terminals • 22,5 or 45mm housing • Switching capacity of 8A/250V AC • DLC system • Dip switch to adjust the reset mode (automatic or manual)

  20. THE MODULES • Modules of category 4 : AWAX26XXL , AWAX27XXL, AWAX45XXL-2 • Control of emergency stops : MICRONIC serie, CO13XXL • Two-hand control device : COM3C • Death zone protection : VALTRONIC • Delaying module : EXELTRONIC XXL, TIMTRONIC XXL, C4T XXL • Extension units : RELTRONIC 6SX, C4SX

  21. THE MAIN APPLICATIONS Mounting on a sash door Mounting on a sliding door Mounting on a traditional door Mounting on a double door

  22. EXAMPLES

  23. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW… • The safety category of the machine • The safety products that your customer uses • The number of switches in series • The environment of the machine

  24. TO FINISH… BTI has the products to save money, installation time, and panel space, yet still achieve the highest safety category!
