Review of Taiwan Demand Model • For Taiwan area comprehensive transportation planning • Entrusted by Institute of Transportation(IOT), Ministry of transportation and communication • 1st TACTP was developed in 1976, now it’s stepped into 5th generation(TDM2012) • Since 4th generation, THI Inc. began to join the plan • It ‘s named “Taiwan Demand Model”(TDM) 1st TACTP 2nd TACTP 3rd TACTP 4th TACTP 5th TACTP 1976 1986 1999 2008 2012 Pre-research 2009-2011

Review of Taiwan Demand Model • Features of TDM2008 • Focus on intercity trips • The base data is quite different to urban models • Average trip lengths are longer than urban travel trips • The trips are irregularly • Visiting and travel are the main purposes • Can’t estimate by traditional home interview survey • Another work of TDM2008 • Two important transportation infrastructure in 2007 • High Speed Rail System • Taipei-Yilan Highway • Estimate the influence of major traffic infrastructure

  12. 3. Review of Taiwan Demand Model • 5th TACTP ( TDM2012) • Base on TDM2008 • Focused on the update of data, parameter, and the coefficient. • No big change of the model structure • Added several modules to the model • Container Freight Survey in 4 main international ports

Introduction of TDM2012 • Scopes • The whole Taiwan island • 16 lifezones, and 361 traffic zones • Especially for “intercity trips” • Trips which crossing lifezones and over 20 km • Including passenger and cargo trips • Weekday and holiday models • Analysis Year • 2010(baseyear)、2021、2031、2041
