  2. IDEAL SITUATION • Dental team is an integral part of the comprehensive care unit. • Dental surgeon • Dental nurse • Dental hygienist (therapist) • Access to specialist services • Oral surgeon • Orthodontist

  3. GOOD ORAL HEALTH • Prevents periodontal disease • Reduces dental caries • Poor Oral health has been related to: • Septic arthritis • Coronary artery disease

  4. IMPROVE ORAL HEALTH • Diet • Tooth brushing • Fluoride • Dental examinations

  5. Antibiotics +/- antibacterial mouthwash Tooth brushing

  6. SEVERE & MODERATE All treatment in the hospital except for prosthodontics. MILD & CARRIERS Treatment shared with GDP. Patient reviewed at the hospital every 2 years. PATIENT GROUPS

  7. No Problem Buccal Infiltration Mental nerve block Care Required Inferior alveolar nerve block Lingual infiltration Posterior superior alveolar nerve block LOCAL ANAESTHETICIN HAEMOPHILIA
