A policy An example of a policy is as follows: This policy provides for the administration of training and development programs for Allied Research Inc. employees sponsored in whole or in part by the Training Department. Instructors in certain areas of licensing or certification- oriented instruction must attend such training and obtain license or certificate prior to training other employees.

    5. A procedure An example of a procedure is as follows: Obtain a copy of the Request for Purchase (RFP) form. If a form is unavailable, a copy can be printed from \\Server\Admin\RFP.xlt. Fill in Requesting Department with your department. Enter todays date in Request Date.

    10. Each policy or procedure needs to have a number. The number is assigned according to categories. The date is the date of creation. The Rev. is the date the policy or procedure is updated. The Page __ of __ identifies what page the employee is reading and the total number of pages for the policy or procedure.

    11. Writing Policies and Procedures Consistency is the key to writing appropriate policies and procedures. If you use full sentences, do so throughout all policies and procedures. If you use verb phrases, do so throughout. Each procedure is to have a minimum of four steps. Each policy is to be a minimum of four lines in length.

You should have between two and five key words for each policy and procedure. Look at one of your textbooks to obtain an idea of what an index should look like.
