    4. STRATEGY: Make Inferences and Analyze Authors dont always tell us everything in their story Readers have to carefully look at the information and make inferences. To make inferences, good readers use what you know and clues in the story to figure out what is missing. You are a detective!

    5. SKILL: Draw Conclusions As good readers, you often use two or more story details and their own experience to explain characters actions, or events. By doing this, you can understand the story better. When you do this, you draw conclusions!

    6. PREVIEW & PREDICT When I say Go, take 1 minute to preview the illustrations. Ask yourself: Who are the characters? What will they do? On your index card, write 1-2 predictions and questions about the story. After we listen to the selection, we will see if your questions were answered.

    7. Focus Question Read to find out How will the brothers get along at the end of the story? NOWyou will read along as we listen to.

How did making inferences and drawing conclusions about the characters help you understand the story? TOMORROW WE WILL Use our sequence chart to answer our Comprehension Check questions on page 73.
