  1. Art Deco Jewelry - The Timeless Art While purchasing a piece of jewelry, the first and obvious choice of any individual is to find something that represents their style - something that is classy and vintage, yet represents their modern lifestyle. In short, something that is stylish, but stays elegant. And Art Deco jewelry will be the perfect jewelry style to go for if you are someone who is into such chic wearable pieces. But what is Art Deco – you might be wondering? The term Art Deco itself has been drawn from the French group of artists who made their debut at the Universal Exposition of 1900 (before the World War I) with new and elegant visual arts, architecture, and designs. This group was called Société des artistes décorateurs, hence the name, Art Deco. Their designs were considered an emblem of luxury and became popular in the 1920s and the 1930s.Art Deco represented glamor, luxury, exuberance, and faith in social and technological progress. Characterized by a dramatic and unusual combination of materials, Art Deco jewelry was decorated with stones like jade, marcasite, onyx, and coral. While platinum was the most fashionable precious metal at the time, jewelry creators used modern materials like plastics, aluminum, and chrome in Art Deco engagement rings and other jewelry motifs. Art Deco was an appropriation of many different styles, sometimes contradictory, united by a desire to be modern. The themes used in their jewelry designs included cute animals, like cats and kittens, fruit and flowers in many colors; which calls for attention every time someone has them on.
