    3. 3 Brief history... Founded by Saint Olav in 1016. It was the royal farm of Norwegian kings for 300 years. I de neste 150 årene var eiendommen eid av forskjellige adelsmenn, våpenskjold til en del av de tidligere eierne henger fortsatt i gangen på Hovedgården Frem til ca 1980 var Hovedgården bolig for Borregaards øverste leder, men i 1986 fusjonerte Borregaard med Orkla, og gården ble tatt i bruk som et kurs og konferansesenter i 1988 Fredsforhandliger i 1993 mellom Israel og PLO ble holdt på Hovedgården og resulterte i Oslo-avtalen som ble undertegnet i USA samme år

    4. 4 Brief history... For the next 150 years the property was a manor house owned by various noblemen. The coats of arms of some of the former owners still hang in the hall of the manor house.

    5. 5 Brief history... From around 1900 until 1976 the manor was the home of Borregaard’s managing director. In 1986 Borregaard merged with Orkla. The manor became a course and conference centre in 1988 The peace negotiations between Israel and the PLO in 1993 took place at Borregaard Manor. The negotiations resulted in the Oslo Accords, which were signed by the USA in the same year.
