  2. Florida Public Utilities Company Description • Small Investor Owned Electric Utility • Approximately 28,000 Customers • Small Service Territory • Northeast Florida Division - Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach • Northwest Florida Division – Parts of Jackson, Calhoun and Liberty Counties

Hurricane Season Preparations • Vegetation Management – Focus on Main Feeders and Areas with Reliability Issues • Pole Replacements – Focus on Replacements of Decayed Poles • Beach Inspections – Replace Deteriorated Hardware along the Beach • Substation Inspections and Corrections • Visual Inspection of Line Reclosers, Voltage Regulators, & Capacitors

  4. Hurricane Season Preparations • Evaluate Inventory to Ensure Adequate Supplies • Continued Involvement with Mutual Assistance Groups • Additional Manpower And Resources have been identified • Review & Update Emergency Procedures

  5. SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS • GIS and Outage Management Completed In Northeast Florida Division • GIS, Outage Management, and SCADA System Completed In Northwest Florida Division

Storm Hardening Initiatives • Initiatives for Vegetation Management and Transmission Storm Hardening have been implemented. • Pole Inspections – Detailed Inspections of 1,850 poles completed in 2008. • Transmission Inspections – Visual Inspections Completed in 2008. Climbing Inspections in accordance with Storm Plan to begin during 2010.

  7. Storm Hardening Initiatives • Vegetation Management – Started a 3/6 year cycle with existing crews. Areas with reliability issues will be addressed. • Joint Use Audits began during 2008 with pole loading issues identified. • Company Personnel will be located at local EOC’s in order to enhance communications with local governments. • Forensics Data Collections procedure completed and contractor to be identified.

  8. Storm Hardening Projects • During 2008, one project was completed that included EWL standards in the design. • This project included 7 Class G Concrete poles and 25 Class 1 Wood poles that provide service to critical infrastructure (Sewer Treatment Plant & Downtown Marianna)

  9. Conclusion • FPUC is adequately prepared for the 2009 Hurricane Season • Decisions from recent Dockets provide the ability for the FPUC to address the initiatives and projects in an effective and productive manner.
