  4. 2009 Hurricane Predictions The 2009 Hurricane Forecast: • 9-14 Named Storms 4-7 Hurricanes 1-3 Intense Storms • 54% chance of impact on US • 32% chance of an East Coast impact

  6. Emergency Management Plans The Office of Emergency Management updated and created the following plans in 2009: • Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan • Regional Evacuation Plan • Regional Post-Disaster Economic Redevelopment Plan • Statewide Capabilities Assessment

  8. Emergency ManagementEnhancements Website OCOEM.com serves as the official source of information before, during and after an emergency and/or disaster. Connect.Gov Pilot-project funded by FDEM to research a Statewide notification system. Weather Stations Orange County has put in place a network of 30 weather stations throughout the county.

  9. Emergency ManagementEnhancements Cont… E-TEAM Upgrade (Crisis Management) Version 6.0 which provides a more user friendly display and operation. OCAlert.Net Text-based emergency notification system. Citizens can register at: http://ocalert.net INFOMAP Secure- Emergency Operations Created by Growth Management. Using GIS mapping to provide a common operating picture.

Emergency Management Accreditation Program Benefits • Fosters benchmarking against a national standard and provides a continuous improvement process (SWOT). • Demonstrates accountability in maintaining and documenting compliance and incorporates best-practices. • Provides citizens evidence that Orange County continues to achieve the highest levels of service.

  22. Emergency Management Accreditation Program Cont’d… • Orange County’s Emergency Management Program received full accreditation in March 2009. • Fourth local program in the country and second county accredited in the State of Florida • One of only 24 accredited programs in the United States
