Robinson A Man you Should Know • February 13, 1919 - April 3, 2007 • African American College football coach who spent fifty-six years as the head coach at historically black Grambling State University in Lincoln Parish, located in northern Louisiana, from 1941 through1997. • Some also referred to him as the “Martin Luther King of football".

Key Moments in History • 1949 – Robinson’s former player Paul “Tank” Younger signed a contract with the Los Angeles Rams to become the 1st player signed by the NFL from a predominantly black college. • 1966 – Football Writers Association of America cite Coach Robinson as the person who contributed the most to college football for the past 25 years.

  4. Key Moments Continued….. • 1983 - Grambling opened the $7.5 million, 23,000-seat Eddie Robinson Stadium • 1997 – retirement • 1998 – received NFL players’ Lifetime Achievement Award

Career Highlights • Robinson's career highlights included 57 years as head coach at Grambling State University, 408 victories, 45 winning seasons, 17 Southwestern Conference Championships, and over 200 players sent into the NFL. • Robinson helped bring racial awareness to a segregated Southern society

  6. Family • Robinson is survived by his wife Doris Robinson • Son, Eddie Jr. Robinson • Daughter, Lillian Rose Watkins • Five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren
