Academic/Career Recognition Task Force It is the responsibility of the Academic/Career Recognition Task Force (ARTF) to insure that review processes and selection criteria are academically sound, respectable, defensible, succinctly stated and widely disseminated to those who serve as part of the review process. Academic/Career recognition must be earned.

Generalizations • 90% of all respondents agree that there is a need for review of Internet-based materials and other multimedia resources • 75% of Users and Producers agreed that they would be willing to serve as a reviewer.
User Generalizations • Looking for a wide range of topical resources …. • that have been through a review process • Value accuracy and pedagogical effectiveness
Producer Generalizations • More than 80% listed Accuracy as the assessment component that would mean the most to them. • The next highest rated was Ease of Use • Importance and Pedagogical Effectiveness tied as the third highest rated - ~ 40% mentioned one or the other in the top 3.
Chair Generalizations • About half would urge non-tenured faculty to develop learning resources • ~ 90% agree that their faculty are fairly evaluated with respect to their teaching • ~ 90% agree that time is the single biggest obstacle • Pedagogical effectiveness and accuracy would have the two greatest impacts - 67% total
Overall “Feelings” • DLESE would be welcomed by Users, Potential Contributors and Chairs • As long as review is a component of the process • The community is primarily “impressed” with Accuracy, East of Use and Pedagogical Effectiveness
