  19. Co-operation of business, science and government • 2002 01 09 the letter of agreement was signed between: • Vilnius municipality • Vilnius University • Vilnius Gediminas Technical University • Forum of the knowledge economy.

The goals of agreement • Cooperation of business, science and public authorities in order to increase the city’s knowledge economy potential; • Promote the importance of the knowledge economy to the public; • Ensure the effective use of existing and development of new infrastructure necessary for the Vilnius Sunrise Valley; • Increase the capital city’s business and science competitiveness.

  21. Results Achieved • A working group is drafting the concept of the Sunrise Valley; • The 1st IT business incubator in the “North Town” is under way; • Vilnius City Municipality appointed City Development Department to work with the Sunrise Valley land-use and the necessary infrastructure planning. • Vilnius University is ready to negotiate alallotment of land to set up a science and technology park.

  22. Conclusions • The need for international support transferring the best practices; • The need for feasibility study; • The need of common understanding among partners about Sunrise Valley concept and organizational structure.
