World Congress on Protected Areasrecommendations … • Conservation & Protected Area efforts are more effective when they are: • Pro-People, Pro-Development • Actively engage resource users • Grass Roots Stakeholders Development LAS Workshop was a good start….but more work is needed. • Filipino tour support industry • Chinese garment factory workers • Indigenous fisher folk, Village resource users • Major tour companies and concessionaires (PDI, TASI)
DFW Proposed MPA Management & Regulatory Plan…can not be funded by USFWS • Multiple Use Zones based on Stakeholder input • USVI, FLKMS, Bonaire, GBRMPA, TNC • Support DFW’s proposals, endeavors and leading role in MPA regulation and coral conservation • Help promote Cultural & Social Lines of Enforcement to enhance effectiveness
