  3. What is a Loris and why did I chose this Endangered Species? The Loris, also known as the Slender Loris, is mildly poisonous. It is a vampire-like creature that bites, and releases many toxins. For the most part, this animal eats any kinds of insects, leaves, flowers, slugs, eggs, toxic beetles and roaches. Native Indians in rainforests are the reason for the Lorises decline in the natural habitats. They believe that the Loris provides them medicine. As well as the destruction of rainforests. I chose this animal, because I found charm in it. It looked very cuddly, because of its fur and huge eyes. When I further educated myself about this creature, I found humor in my judgment. It proved to me about how looks can be very deceiving.

  4. How will not having this organism effect in this environment? Without the Slender Loris, our environment will consist of more toxic beetles, than we have with the slender Loris, because it eats them. I believe that with the Slender Loris in this environment, there will be less toxic bugs, beetles and insects in this world.

  5. How does having this organism affect the environment? Having this organism, is having another opportunity, or higher chance to possibly find a cure of any disease, or sickness in this animals flesh. That’s what the Indians believe. In India, the blood of this animal is known to CURE asthma, and is being tested around many other countries, before making it a true belief.

  6. What is being done to protect this organism? Adoption, and conservation of rainforests protect these animals. They are very rare, and only known to be in existence in India.

  7. What needs to be done to increase the numbers of this organism in the environment? To increase the numbers of the slender Loris, we must reduce deforestation of rainforests in India.

  8. How did this organism become Endangered? Due to the killing of the Slender Loris, the animals have became endangered. They are killed because villagers, and tribes have known the slender Lorises blood to contain “medical powers” to treat asthma, and heal wounds.
