  2. Sex and Marijuana • Penis has receptors for the active ingredients in marijuana (THC) • Young men need to think about long term effects • Increased risk for erectile dysfunction • More likely to have inhibited orgasms and pain during sex • Lowers sperm production and can change ovulation

  3. Sex and Alcohol • May leave users unconscious or severely sedated • Users can become easy targets for sexual predators • Social inhibitions reduced • “Beer goggles” can cause a person to have little or no discretion in choosing a sexual partner

  4. Sex and Alcohol • Effects sexual performance (ex. unable to maintain erection or produce vaginal lubrication, inhibited orgasms, decrease pleasure, etc) • Inhibits testosterone production in men • Inability to remember or use condoms correctly

  6. Tobacco and Sex • Impotence is 85% higher in male smokers compared to non-smokers • Smokers are 60% more likely to be infertile than non-smokers • Harms sperm quality • Non-smokers report having twice as much sex with current partners than smokers and rate the quality of sex much higher

  7. Drugs and Alcohol • Increases risky behavior • Used as an excuse for unacceptable behavior • Linked to rape, unwanted pregnancies and STDs • Alters a persons sexual response cycle

  8. Messages for Teens • Make a plan before drinking or using drugs. Make sure your friends know your intentions for the night. • Stay with your friends. • If you plan to have sex, be prepared…have condoms. • Be aware of how much you are drinking/smoking. Counting your drinks and drink plenty of water. • Protect yourself from becoming a victim of a rape drug. Watch your drink. Take it with you everywhere. Avoid pre-made drinks and punches.
