  1. Reliability • Different factors contribute to reliability: 1. Design 2. Reliability analysis 3. Production + production test Neways

  2. Neways • International company: - 13 branches located in 5 countries • Apart from production portfolio also includes: - Engineering - Aftersales (service + repair) - Testing (+development of test equipment) • Octopus production: Leeuwarden

  3. Neways Leeuwarden • New site (< 5 years old) • New production facility with high end equipment • Certified for military grade production  supplier for Dutch army

  4. Production tracking • Every component reel is tagged with barcode • Tagging is performed directly after arrival • Use of barcode scanners  tracking • Tracking system guarantees that right component is placed at right position • PCB also receives barcode  tracking of assembled product • Tracking system controls complete production flow • Chance of mix-ups by human errors is small

  5. Database • Tracking system gives input to database • Database holds production relevant information: - Registered anomalies during production (e.g. failed inspection on a board) - Output from test machine - Production details (e.g. timestamps, personnel involved, ...) - Etc. • Database is stored without time constraint

  6. Quality checks • All units are subjected to: - 3D solder paste inspection - Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) - Manual inspection - KVI-CART test machine • Test results of KVI-CART test machine are linked to tracking system • (Xray machine  not all suppliers have this)
