  1. Interpreting Graphs Notes: Graphs are used to present data in a picture format. Components of a good graph: 1. Title 2. Label each axis. Give units used 3. Determine a scale, (the numerical value for each square), that best fits the data.

  2. Plot data correctly (x, y) • Conclusion/relationship -a complete sentence

  3. Relationship: _________________________________________________

  4. Vocabulary Variable- items being compared Interval scale- amount the axis increase by each line State a relationship- a sentence that explains how one variable affects the other.

  5. Figure 1. Parts of a graph pH Affects Enzyme Activity Conclusion: As pH level increase the rate of enzyme activity decreases

  6. Types of relationships Positive Negative As _x__ increased, _y_ increased As _x__ increased, _y_ decreased

  7. No relationship No change/constant As _x_ changed , the _y_. stayed the same. There is no relationship between _x_ and _y_.

  8. Wine Cost 35 30 25 20 15 10 5 Identify Value of wine ($) • Title • X axis label • Y axis label • Interval scale x axis • Interval scale y axis • Independent variable • Dependent variable • Which relationship is shown? • State the relationship 97 98 99 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 Year

  9. Negative positive
