  2. Kennedy Apollo 11 Men on Moon Self Test Kennedy’s Promise . On May 25th, 1961 President Kennedy made a promise to have a man on the moon by the end of the decade in response to the space race America was in with the Soviet Union.

  4. Kennedy Apollo 11 Men on Moon Self Test What did Apollo 11 do? Apollo 11 took off on July 16, 1969, landed on the moon on July 20, and came back to earth on July 24, 1969. The mission collected 21.7 kilograms of moon rocks and traveled 250 meters on the moon’s surface. Eventually landed in the Pacific Ocean after being in space for 195 hours, 18 minutes and 35 seconds. Apollo 11 was the first mission in where men went to the moon and, and the first time that samples were brought back from another planet. These samples date back 3.7billion years.
