  2. EQ: What is an idiom? How do I determine the meaning of an idiom? Idiom... What is it? A group of words that can be confusing because they say one thing but mean another. What does it look like? An example would be to say, "let the cat out of the bag" which means to reveal a secret. Today the phrase has nothing to do with a cat or a bag, but hundreds of years ago it did. More examples... My uncle seems to be getting a little hot under the collar. I've got a major test tomorrow, so I better hit the books.
