  6. Interns in Emergency Management • Project Oriented Internships • Tangible product • Allow Ownership of the project • Set milestones for the project with regular updates to you and your team • Let the student play a role in the design process

  7. Interns in Emergency Management • Organizations Responsibilities • Brief the Student on your organization and the services you provide to your community • Ensure they have an understanding of the demographics of your residents • Select a project that will benefit your program

  8. Interns in Emergency Management • Fully brief the student on the project and ensure they fully understand the outcome expected • Project details and timelines must be clear • Treat the Intern as you would any other employee • Provide regular feedback sessions
