Structure • Mostly composed of muscle and nervous tissue . • It is divided into four chambers. The top two chambers are the • atria; the bottom two are the ventricles. Function The Cardiovascular System (CS) make up the network that delivers blood to the body’s tissue. But the cardiovascular system transports not only blood, but also oxygen, hormones, blood sugar, vitamins, minerals, and waste that is produced in one part of the body and travels elsewhere. The CS uses a series of veins and arteries to carry blood to and from the heart. Arteries are blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart, while veins are blood vessels that carry blood toward the heart. Artery : OUT Vein : IN
The heart has four chambers: two atria and two ventricles. The right atrium receives deoxygenated blood from the body and pumps it to the right ventricle. The right ventricle pumps the deoxygenated blood to the lungs. The left atrium receives oxygenated blood from the lungs and pumps it to the left ventricle. The left ventricle pumps the oxygenated blood to the body. Four Chambers of the Heart

Now A condition where arteries become thick, blocked and inelastic . It occurs when fat, cholesterol, and other substances build up in the walls of arteries and form hard structures called plaques.
10 Facts The cardiovascular system is one of the most vital systems in your body. With each heartbeat, blood is sent throughout our bodies, carrying oxygen and nutrients to all of our cells. The heart beats around 3 billion times in the averages person's life. About 8 million blood cells die in the human body every second, and the same number are born each second. Within a tiny droplet of blood, there are some 5 million red blood cells. It takes about 20 seconds for a red blood cell to circle the whole body. Red blood cells make approximately 250,000 round trips of the body before returning to the bone marrow, where they were born, to die. Red blood cells may live for about 4 months circulating throughout the body, feeding the 60 trillion other body cells. One drop of blood contains a half a drop of plasma, 5 MILLION Red Blood Cells, 10 Thousand White Blood Cells and 250 Thousand Platelets. Heart of an adult = size of a clench fist weight 250-300 grams
