Understanding the Rock Cycle: Types and Formation of Rocks

DESCRIPTION

This project explores the three main types of rocks: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Through a PowerPoint presentation, we detail how each type forms, highlighting that igneous rocks originate from cooled lava, sedimentary rocks result from weathered materials compacted together, and metamorphic rocks are created under heat and pressure. We include visuals and descriptions to illustrate the characteristics of each rock type, essential for understanding the rock cycle and its significance in geology.

  2. The Rock Scientist • Tom and Bob were partners on a project they have to do in science class. They had to find the three types of rocks Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic. So they did a PowerPoint to show the three types of rocks and how they form.

  3. Igneous Rock • Igneous rocks are form from lava cooling. Igneous rocks have little white crystals but some rocks you can see and some don’t so you have to use a microscope. Igneous rocks can be found near volcanoes. Lava cooling down Igneous To

  5. Sedimentary Rock • Sedimentary rock is form by weathered products of preexisting rocks. They also can be formed by sediment compacted together. Sedimentary rocks can form underwater. Deposited eroded pieces of the earth can form together to make a sedimentary rock. Sometimes there are no crystals but when there are, the crystals are a little big. Igneous Sedimentary To

  7. Metamorphic Rock • Metamorphic rocks are formed by heat and pressure combine together. Morph means change so metamorphic changes from igneous and sedimentary. Metamorphic Rocks are grainy and they have really big crystals. Sedimentary Metamorphic To
