  3. Why choose Aarhus University? 1. Excellence and creativity Denmark is a modern, knowledge-based society. Most Danes are highly educated. 2. English speaking population The majority of Danes have a very good command of English, so it is easy for international students to interact in Denmark, even if you do not speak Danish. Safe and modern society Statistics show that Denmark has one of the lowest crime rates in the world, and foreigners often mention how safe and secure they feel during their stay. Hygge - a unique Danish Feature Very difficult to translate, ‘hygge’ has to do with feeling comfortable in a friendly atmosphere. It is impossible to stay in Denmark long without experiencing ‘hygge’. A gateway to Europe Denmark´s geographic position in the north of Europe and the south of Scandinavia, with direct access to Germany and Sweden, makes Denmark an excellent gateway for those who want to explore more of Europe and Scandinavia.
