  24. Mental maths It’s your turn! • Encourage them to study the mental maths paper as soon as it is handed out. Look carefully at all diagrams and numbers - you can sometimes guess what the question will be and that gives you more thinking time To help your children to feel confident with the mental maths test; • Practise their times tables and division facts so they have a sound knowledge of them. • Feel free to take a copy of the mental maths script and use it to do similar tests with your child to get them familiar with the language and style of questions.
