Back to School Night: Parent Information for 7th Grade English Language Arts

Welcome to 7th Grade English Language Arts! I'm Skylar Hurst (Room 205). For any non-emergency inquiries, feel free to email me at skylar.hurst@austinisd.org. Visit our website at www.mshurst.weebly.com for important updates. Students will have Independent Reading Assignments every grading period, and due dates will be posted online. Encourage your child to read regularly! Writing assignments will primarily be completed in class. If you wish to review your student’s writing, please reach out to schedule a time.

Things to know… • Independent Reading Assignments– • EVERY grading period • Due dates posted to website • They should have something to read on a regular basis • Talk to your student about what they are reading • YES- they have homework… it never hurts to READ! • Writing Assignments- • Mostly done in class • Reflected on and kept in classroom • If you would like to see your students writing at any time, email me and we will schedule a time.
