  2. Rachel Louise Carson Born to Robert and Maria Carson on May 27 1907 in Springdale Pennsylvania USA Growing up young Rachel lived with her family on a farm. Everyday she would get up early to milk the cows, feed the pigs, tend to their gardens, and gather eggs from the hens. She even did some work in the kitchen. At times like these she would make food including homemade butter. Later in her spare time she would play with some of the animals around her home such as her cats and dogs who roamed the barnyard. Though she enjoying all of these things very much her favorite thing to do was take long walks around her house and observe the nature as she went.

  3. (8/14/1937 The Maryland Miracle:your way to the news Rachel Louise Carson sitting on a bolder in a forest observing the area through her binoculars. Rachel Carson or the “mother of The modern environmental movement”, as she is called, became the first woman ever to take the civil service test. also was the first women to pass this test! This then helped her to write one of her first articles. Every person who read this thought she should send it in to the Atlantic Monthly (a very well know magazine). So she did. Hendrik van Loon was a popular writer at this time and had read Carson’s article. He thought that she had a special ability to explain life to the people. so he asked his publishing company and talked with his editor and soon Rachel was on her way to writing one of her first books about undersea life!

  4. Creative Rachel Carson Is… Intelligent Rachel wrote many books about many topics and put her own creative spin into all of them. Rachel Carson was a women who had a great education and a very credible job because of her vast knowledge about the earth and things on it. Curious One of Rachel’s best qualities is curiosity. I don’t think that her life would meant the same thing as it does if she wouldn't have been curious about the world. Caring Rachel cared that people knew about life and what is around us and cared about wildlife and the environment. Helpful She helped her family when her sister Marian died by taking care of her kids, and helped everyone to know about the world and what is in it. Talented Rachel Carson taught lots of people things because of her talent to write.

  5. Rachel Louise Carsondiedin Silver Spring, Maryland, USAon April 14th 1964 Rachel Louise Carson lived a happy fulfilling life. Her mother Maria Carson would be very proud of Rachel and happy knowing that she was one of the people who helped Rachel live her life as she did. Maria had taught Rachel as a child everything she needed to know. Rachel inspired everyone with the knowledge she had from her mom. She used what she had to do wonderful things. Such as write one of her books “A Battle in the Clouds” that had helped a lot of people get over the war, their sadness, and grief. Rachel also had many supporters through her life. Not only her mother but also her dad Robert Carson, her older brother Robert Jr. Carson, and older sister Marian Carson. They helped Rachel achieve her goals. Rachel not only wrote books but also was an environmentalist. She was so good at what she did that Elmer Higgins offered her a job during the depression at a radio station, this inspired people to never give up hope.

  6. Rachel Louise Carson Being the Best Wildlife Author this year. Rachel’s writings have inspired and helped many people in the past and present.

  7. Hey Rachel, How is your biography report going? Who is it on? Mine is on Rachel Carson, a writer and scientist. Let me tell you a little about her. Well for starters, as I said she is a writer. Rachel Carson has written many books about things she has learned about. This is why I think a lesson you could possibly learn from her is “You can never learn too much!”. Rachel even as a child was a very curious kid and always wanted to find answers to her many questions, this is what caused her to have such a vast knowledge in things. Through Rachel’s life she always had people trying to tell her that since she was a girl she couldn’t do things, this NEVER stopped Rachel! Which is why I think a second lesson you could learn from Rachel Carson is “Be whatever you want to be”. I also think that since Rachel didn’t let other peoples comments and opinions bug her and affect her life that another lesson we could learn from Rachel Carson is “Don’t let what people say stop you!”. From your friend, Megan 1/18/12 Rachel Bicer

  8. Dear Rachel Carson, A hero is someone who has talents and chooses to use them humbly and to the best of their ability. A celebrity is famous. A hero is someone who cares for others with a passion. A celebrity is well-known. A hero helps those in need. A celebrity is not always positive. A hero is highly respected because they have earned it. A hero would save people. A hero is caring, humble, helpful, and positive… a hero is you. Rachel, I think you should be considered a hero. You took in your older sisters kids when she died, you are a survivor of breast cancer, and you created the Environmental Protection Agency. You are a hero to me. Sincerely, Megan Breidigan

  10. Memorabilia: Rachel’s Books/other writings Rachel loved to write about things she cared a lot for and she cared a lot for the sea. I think Rachel would want people to remember her writings so that we could all remember that we need to help the environment, not for the fame and glory. Some of Rachel’s books are… • The Sea Around Us • The Edge of the Sea • Silent Spring • Under the Sea Around Us Silent Spring was is one of Rachel Carson’s most well-known books and one of the most inspiring

  11. Memorabilia: Letters Rachel Carson and Dorothy Freeman were great friends. Also they were neighbors while Rachel lived in Maine. When Rachel was away working in other parts of America that friendship remained through talking in letters that they wrote back and forth. In these letters you can tell Rachel was a good friend to Dorothy because she mentions some personal things she would not say to just anyone. I’m sure these letters were very important to Rachel and to her dear friend.

  12. Memorabilia: A Daisy Though Rachel had a great passion for writing her other love was nature. When Rachel was in college she had began majoring in English composition. Later after realizing she did no longer want this switched to zoology. During this time Rachel spent much of her time observing nature such as, flowers. This is why I think she would want to remember this, so that she can remember the beautiful wildlife she saw in her life and remember her favorite flower the daisy.
