Rom 6:3-7, Col 2:12 • Picture of our clean conscience before God. 1 Pt 3:18-22, Hebrews 10:19-22

Who can get baptized? • Jesus did it & commanded it. • Jesus did it as an act of obedience for us to follow. Matt 3:13-15 • It marked Jesus’ relationship w/God & start of ministry.Mark 1:9-11, Luke 3:21-22, John 1:31-34 • The apostles taught & required it.Acts 2:38, 8:12, 22:16 • Only those who believe should be baptized. Acts 8:36-38 • Is baptism necessary to go to heaven? • Luke 23:43, Eph 2:8-10, Rom 10:9-10, 13

Is it necessary? • What is its purpose & why do we do it? 1 Cor 11:23-32 • Symbolize & remember Christ’s death • Look forward to Christ’s soon return • Accepting & participating in the benefits of Christ’s death. • Spiritual nourishment & fellowship with God. • Unity among believers. • Opportunity for self examination • Who can participate? What would keep you from participating? • Only those who believe should participate. • Non-believers unwilling to profess faith in Christ. • Believers unwilling to repent of sin. • Is communion necessary to go to heaven?
