  4. estimation: • An estimate is an educated guess. • Round the nearest place value or make numbers friendly (multiples of 5,10, 25, 50, 100) • Then solve to see if your estimate is close to the exact answer

Vocabulary • Expression- one or more numbers and symbols that show a certain value (Whole problem) • Base- the number repeatedly multiplied when the number has an exponent (bottom number) • Exponent- the number of times a base number is multiplied by itself (top number) • Squared- the result of the operation where a number has been multiplied by itself (2nd Power) • cubed - the result of the operation where a number has been multiplied by itself two times (3rd power) • factor - one of two or more numbers that are multiplied
