  2. Senior School at Leith Academy Options: • Return to School – All S4. • Leave to seek Employment – S5 & S6 (some S4 at Xmas) • Leave to go to College – S5 & S6 (some S4 at Xmas) • School/College – S5 & S6 (Apprenticeships)

  4. Returning to School How? • Application Form/Contract • Think about each section • Get Teacher’s signature – communicate – seek advice. • Be realistic – N5/Higher/AH? • Deadlines: S3 into S4 = 28thFebruary*; S4/5 into S5/6 = 15th March.

  5. Levels S4 S5S6 • Nat 3 > Nat 4 > Nat 4/5/SfW • Nat 4 > Nat 5 or SfW > Higher • Nat 5* > Higher > Adv Higher Previously: • Int 1 > Int 2 > Higher • Int 2 > Higher > Advanced Higher*

The Senior Phase: • National Levels = 4 periods a week; S4 to S6 in classes. • Wider Achievement options for S5 and S6 pupils picking Nationals e.g. Statistics; practical bike mechanics; Touch Typing; additional maths/English; Film Studies; First Aid; Study Skills. • Higher classes = 5 periods a week; S5 & S6 in classes. • Advanced Higher = up to 5 periods a week; S6 only.

  7. The Senior Phase: • Timetabled Volunteering in junior classes for some S6 & Buddying. • Study. • J.E.T.available to all Senior Phase; J.E.T.+ for Xmas Leavers.

S5 New Options – 1 - Edinburgh College Courses for 2017/18 - examples: • Dance – NPA • Automotive Skills for Work (Sighthill) • Computer Games and Software Development • Creative Hairdressing and Make-Up • ESOL – Nat 4/5/Higher • EECC Nat 4/5 • Music Business NPA • Construction Crafts – NPA – all day Tues or Thurs (Granton) See House Head - No guaranteed places.

Continued: Edinburgh College: Engineering Academy & STEM Academy Foundation Apprenticeships – Civil Engineering; Financial Services; IT & Digital Software; Engineering; Business Skills; Social Services and Health Care – all growth areas for employment in Lothian. Y.A.S.S. – Open University Courses

  10. New Options - 2 Q.M.U. Academies – Apply via BS • Mostly targeting S5 – 2-year courses – HNC. • Creative Industries • Health & Social Care • Hospitality and Tourism • Different Entry Requirements – See BS or HHs.

  11. Career Ready • Only for S5 Pupils. • @2 Highers. • Interest in developing employability skills. • Mentors/Mentee. • Masterclasses. • 4-week paid internship summer 2018.

  15. EMA • Parental/Carer Income for 2017/18 • 16 + years old • £30 per week • Every 2 weeks • In Arrears • 1 Child in Household – up to £24,421; 2 or more Children in Household – up to £26,844. • No payment if TBC for attendance.
