Covers parts of the villages of New Hope (Municipality of Haskovo), Brod Raynovo Gold Field (Dimitrovgrad). It includes a set of connected with each other water bodies with different shape, size and depth, and reed papurovi areas, islands and grasslands. Protected area was formed as a result of dike construction, which broke off from its old river bed. Evolved in the 50-year stretch of river in the shape of a horseshoe and is about 2 km. As a result of human activity in the western part of martvitsata, namely the extraction of aggregates have formed most of the water mirrors, forming a complex wetland. The eastern part has remained unchanged, overgrown with cattail, cane and wicker.
