  6. Conclusion • Summarize, then conclude, your argumentRefer to the first paragraph/opening statement as well as the main points does the conclusion restate the main ideas? • reflect on the sequence and importance of the arguments • Does it logically conclude the development?

  7. Six evidences of a good argument • Has a strong foundation in correspondence; has factual support • Has a high degree of coherence • Has explanatory power • Avoids two extremes – neither too simple nor too complex • Is able to refute contrary arguments

  8. What to look for… • Are there any words that need explaining? Does the author use a language that is too advanced for readers? Should the author spend more time explaining concepts? • How effective is the counterargument? Is there a counterargument? • Analyze the title – is it appealing to the reader? • What is the claim? • What does the author use for support? • Is the author too opinionated? Does the author offer both sides of the story? • Does this author illicit trust? Why or why not?
